Raymond L. Ayers, age 66, of Washington St., Moorefield passed away Monday morning January 13, 1977 at the Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg, WV following a long illness.  Born January 1, 1931 in Vanderlip, WV he is the son of Carrie (Mayhew) Ayers of Romney, WV and the late Emmanuel R. Ayers.

Surviving is his wife Thelma (Helmick) Ayers, 3 sons; Raymond Ayers, Eston Ayers & Brian Ayers all of Moorefield, WV; 6 Brothers David Ayers, Dorman Ayers, Harold Ayers, Ronald Ayers & Joe Ayers all of Romney, WV, and Robert Ayers of Inwood, WV; 6 Sisters, Vivian Helmick of Moorefield, WV, Donna Landis of Inwood, WV, Shirley White, Melvina Heavner, Darlene Kline & Wanda Gillman all of Romney, WV.  Also Surviving are 4 Grandchildren and 2 Great Grandchildren.

Mr. Ayers was preceded in death by on Brother.

Mr. Ayers was a Retired SSGT of the US Air Force, a Veteran of the Korean War, a Life Member of the John M. Golliday Post #64 American Legion, A Life Member of the Denny, Moyers, Pratt Post #9606 Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Funeral Services were held on Thursday, January 16, 1977 at the Fraley Funeral Home in Moorefield, WV with the Rev. Barry Sink Officiating.  Burial was with Military Graveside Rites at the Olivet Cemetery. All Rights Reserved.
