25 September 1938 - 26 December 2006

Mr. Danny Martin Pugh, age 68, of DeFuniak Springs, Florida, passed away at his home Tuesday, December 26, 2006. He was born September 25, 1938 in Lexington, TN the son of Thomas Eades Pugh and Betty Inez Hatchett Pugh.

Danny served twenty years in the U. S. Air Force, traveling all over the world to serve his country. After retiring in 1983, he farmed and raised “Cookin Good Chickens”. Because farming didn’t fill his time, Dan returned to college at the University of West Florida and received his Master’s Degree, after which, he taught history at Walton High School in the late 1980’s.

In 1991 Dan founded “Po Boy’s Pawn Shop” in DeFuniak Springs. The store name was later changed to “Po Boys Guns and Ammo”. He built the store into what many refer to as the largest gun shop in the Southeast. After visiting the shop to browse or make a purchase, you were sure to leave with a funny story and a fond memory of Dan. He sold the store and retired again in 2005.

He spent his free time with his wife of 48 years, Darlene, gardening, enjoying his children, and being “Granga” to his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Darlene Mallory Pugh of DeFuniak Springs, his daughters, Dana Goddin of DeFuniak Springs, Dr. Diane Pugh Hendrickson and husband, Kevin of Fort Pierce, Debora Campbell and husband, Rick, of Tallahassee, his grandchildren, Danny Lee, Kiley D’Aun, Dylan Patrick, Mallory Glynne, and Lacey Erin, his mother-in-law, Francis Viola Mallory of DeFuniak Springs, and his faithful and loving companion, his cat, Sassy.

Funeral services were held Sunday, December 31, 2006 at Pafford Funeral Home in Lexington, TN. Danny was laid to rest in Lexington Cemetery.
